Common Symptoms:

  • Console powers on but no video output
  • No audio output
  • TV or monitor displays "No Signal"
  • Console's light remains green but screen stays black
  • HDMI or AV cables are properly connected but no display

Solutions:

  1. Check and Reset Video Output Settings:
    • Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until you hear a second beep, resetting the video output settings to default.
  2. Replace HDMI/AV Cables:
    • Try using new or different HDMI or AV cables to ensure the issue isn't caused by faulty cables.
  3. Clean HDMI/AV Ports:
    • Clean the HDMI and AV ports on both the console and TV/monitor to ensure proper connection.
  4. Test with Different TV/Monitor:
    • Connect the PS3 to a different TV or monitor to rule out display issues.
  5. Check and Reseat Internal Connections:
    • Disassemble the console and ensure all internal connections, such as the HDMI port and internal video cables, are secure and properly seated.
  6. Replace the GPU/CPU Thermal Paste:
    • Overheating can cause no display issues. Replacing the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU can improve heat management.
  7. Reflow/Reball GPU:
    • Reflowing or reballing the GPU can re-establish proper connections if the solder joints have cracked or become loose.
  8. Replace Faulty Components:
    • Identify and replace any faulty components on the motherboard or video output circuitry that might be causing the issue.
